FALOODA

Makes one 7-oz serving

This beverage is a Ramadan tradition served after a day of fasting, along with a date and a snack to nourish and rehydrate before group prayers.

Ingredients:

1 tsp basil seeds (tukmaria)

¼ cup water

3 tbsp rose syrup

¾ cup milk

1 tbsp chopped pistachios/almonds

1 scoop vanilla ice-cream

 

Instructions:

  1. Soak basil seeds in ¼ cup water for 3-5 minutes. Drain and reserve.
  2. Pour 3 tablespoons of rose syrup in a glass.
  3. Add the milk, soaked basil seeds, ice-cream and chopped nuts.
  4. Sit and enjoy your summer drink of the East!
